RADIO personality and actor Christopher Johnny Daley has advanced to the second-round of the international comedy competition The Funniest Person in the World.
The contest, which began in September, is being hosted by American comedy club chain Laugh Factory. Daley said initially he was a bit concerned about his audience understanding Jamaican patois. However, his concerns are now laid to rest.
“I was originally concerned that the language would have been a barrier. However, now having made it to the top 20 semi-finalists, I think the language may have been what pulled persons to watch my video entry over and over again and increase the votes,” said Daley.
A total of 89 comedians from 56 countries have been competing for a spot in the grand finale in Helsinki, Finland, which was recently named one of the ‘Happiest Countries on Earth’.The contest is slated for December 5 to 10. However, Daley has to get enough votes on laughfactory.com to make it to the finals. Voting ends on December 5. The winner will receive a cash prize of US$100,000.
