She’s Royal was recorded at producer Mikey Bennett’s Grafton Studios, while laying the rhythm was done at Tuff Gong.
Featured on Riley’s sophomore album Parables (VP Records), She’s Royal would be the third single off the album. Previous hits from the album were Beware and a cover of John Legend’s Stay With You.
“ She’s Royal buss last in Jamaica. It was a big hit across the Caribbean long before Jamaica caught on,” Riley shared.
The song not only topped charts locally but also in South Florida, New York, Canada, and reggae charts in Europe.
The success of She’s Royal earned Riley several accolades. They included the 2007 Artist of the Year by the Jamaica Observer; the 2008 Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards for Male Vocalist and Song of the Year; 2008 – Reggae Academy Awards — Best Reggae Song, Most Popular Song (both for She’s Royal) and Best Solo Male Reggae Vocal Performance; and Breakthrough Reggae Artist.
Riley is looking forward to the release of his fifth studio album later this year. He recently topped reggae charts in New York and South Florida with the Rvssian-produced Don’t Come Back, and No Hypocrites Allowed. His latest single is Just the Way You Are, produced by DJ Frass.
