Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Jennifer Lopez are among a host of stars who have been warned by US authorities about their promotion of products on social media.
Last month, it emerged that officials at America’s Federal Trade Commission FTC had written 90 letters warning stars and executives about advertising products on social media.
FTC guidelines prohibit stars from promoting products if they do not disclose that they have a financial interest in doing so.
U.S. authorities have now released the names of 45 musicians, actors, models and social media celebrities who received the letters after a Freedom of Information request by editors at Women’s Wear Daily.
Diddy was warned over his promotion of Aqua-hydrate, a water brand he co-owns, and Jennifer was pulled up for a post praising Beluga vodka.
The letter to Diddy assured the rapper that he should have “clearly and conspicuously disclosed” his financial interest in Aqua-hydrate when posting about it on Instagram.
