Giving back to the less fortunate has always been a mandate for dancehall artist Konshens. For years, he undertook the cost of staging back to school treats, donated computers to a computer lab and funded scholarships in the Duhaney Park area of Kingston.
Konshens recently extended his social responsibility to include the St Augustine Place of Safety in Chapelton, Clarendon.
This facility carters to approximately 50 boys who have been removed from their families as being in need of care and protection or having committed an offence.
‘When the needs of the home were brought to my attention, I really thought they needed to be addressed urgently. I think most of the kids there are just victims of society and they deserve as much help as they can get’, Konshens explained.
Major issues
On Labor Day, Konshens along with his team from Solid Agency, assisted with a beautification project at the facility.
“We went there to assist with a beautification project on Labor Day and they also presented me with a checklist of their major issues, so we plan to attack these issues and try to get companies on board to assist with this noble and necessary cause,” said Konshens.
He added that the plans to help the institution will be ongoing.
“Well hopefully we can complete that detailed and well thought out checklist. My aim is to tackle and conquer as many different ventures as possible as opposed to focusing on just one area.”
