Dancehall superstar Macka Diamond has inked a two-year management and recording deal with US-based independent label Sweet Music LLC.

“Over the years, I have managed to break many barriers in music, independently, but it has been a rough road, however. There comes a time when you, as the entertainer, need to have a solid team to assist with your growth. I believe that this is a good move,” said Macka Diamond in a statement.

She was approached by representatives from Sweet Music, and based on subsequent meetings, she is eager to work with the new team.

“Immediately, I could feel their willingness to work on further building the Macka Diamond brand. Jamaican artistes need to get greater expertise in the areas of merchandising, publishing and management, and I made the conscious decision to work with those who shared a similar vision,” she said.

Dr Dave Wallace, CEO of Sweet Music LLC, said the move makes sense both tactically and strategically for the brand.

“She will be an integral component in achieving the goal of diversification of our musical portfolio. Macka is an established and dynamic artiste that has much more content to contribute to the dancehall musical experience. Consequently, Sweet Music will leverage all its resources to help re-establish Macka Diamond as one of dancehall’s most visible and productive stars,” he said.

Macka Diamond’s latest single, 25 Inches, has been doing well. The video, which was released over four weeks ago, has racked up thousands of views, and the song has been added to the rotation list of many radio stations.

Macka Diamond is looking forward to getting a career boost from the US-based independent label who will be pushing her latest single

She has embarked on a two-week ‘Macka Diamond 25’ tour.
