Under-Secretary for Diaspora Protocol and Consular Affairs in the ministry, Ambassador Sharon Saunders, says it will allow Jamaicans with foreign passports to join the line for residents when they come through the local airports, among other benefits.
She says a feasibility study to show how the card will be implemented is being prepared for discussion at the upcoming 7th Biennial Jamaica 55 Diaspora Conference scheduled for the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston from July 23-26.
Speaking at a recent Jamaica Information Service (JIS) ‘Think Tank’, Ambassador Saunders, said the Foreign Ministry is working with the Ministry of National Security and a Diaspora Task Force within the Economic Growth Council (EGC) to develop the card.
The card is one of the 18 targets set by the Economic Growth Council.
