Aidonia has scored a big summer hit, Yeah Yeah Yeah produced by Emudio Records. It has taken the airwaves and dancehall by storm.
Emanuel Schirmer, a 28-year-old German residing in Jamaica, produced the song.
He explained how the collaboration with Aidonia came about.
“I had the rhythm and sent it to Govana (who is closely associated with Aidonia) and he let Aidonia hear it. After he started to vibe it, he came up with the concept for the song,” Schirmer told Splash. “I knew we had a great song and the timing was right because there weren’t a lot of summer/party songs out yet. So it really wasn’t a surprise (that it hit).”
Schirmer, who works as a producer and engineer at Freddie McGregor’s Big Ship studio in Havendale, St Andrew, is from the city of Stuttgart.
He spoke about how he got involved in music production.
“I had a small home studio back in Germany where I used to live, so when I was trying to come up with a name for my label/studio, I merged my first name Emanuel and studio and called it Emudio Records. Last year I established my label in Jamaica.”
Schirmer said he has been creating rhythms since high school, but only recently got the opportunity to work in a professional environment and pursue music full-time. Since relocating to Jamaica in 2015, he has worked with Chino, Elephant Man, Laden, Bramma, OCG, Flexxx, I-Octane, Denyque, Jah Vinci, Govana, Singing Sweet, Snypa Kyng, and NeeQah.
His productions include Not A Bad Thing by Singing Sweet and Chino, Rising to The Top (Jah Vinci), Hold You (I-Octane), Concrete Jungle (Govana), Dem A Watch We (Flexx and Serani) and These are the Nights by Denyque.
Yeah Yeah Yeah has been his breakthrough hit. “The feedback has been overwhelming,” he said.
Schirmer spoke about upcoming projects.
“I’m working on a lot of new material, including singles and rhythm compilations with a number of artistes. I’m also releasing a reggae EP with up-and-coming singer Kenny Smith this month. I’m working on Singing Sweet’s upcoming album and some international projects which I can’t talk about in detail yet.”
