Billboard Chart Watch:—
In sports terminology, Chronixx is batting at 100 on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart with his debut full-length project, Chronology.
In its second week on the listing, the 19-track album is once again at number one. This is for the listing up to August 5.
Waiting in the wings, though, is Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley’s Stony Hill, which is top of the iTunes reggae albums listing last Friday, within hours of its release. Stony Hill still holds the top spot on the iTunes ranking, where Chronology is fourth.
In second and third are the Bob Marley and the Wailers pair of Legend albums, the remastered and deluxe versions, respectively.
Back on the Billboard chart, Rebelution’s stamina set, Falling Into Place, is at number two in its 39th week on the chart. After moving up from third last week, it is the greatest gainer on the listing. The surprise entry is the number-three placed – Don Cosmic by late trombonist, Don Drummond, which, at third, is the top debut.
NEW RELEASES
Among the tracks of newly released material by the legendary Horseman are Reload, Surplus, Coolie Boy, and Last Call (there are two takes of the last-named song).
The Major Lazer EP, Know No Better, is now fourth, down two spots from last week. Rounding out the top five is Black Gold, the Samory I set produced by Rorystonelove, which is making its debut.
FAMILIAR TITLES
The other 10 entries are largely familiar titles with some reordering. The only new entry in this segment of the chart is the number seven, Waves, by Tubby Love, which is just behind Lost In Paradise (Common Kings). Soca Gold is eighth (down a spot from the previous listing), Collie Buddz’s Good Life is up a place at nine and Rebelution’s Live at Red Rocks is 10th.
Morgan Heritage’s Avrakedabra is 11th, Ziggy Marley’s self-titled set is 12th, The Frightnrs’ Nothing More to Say, re-enters the listing at 13 and Stephen Marley’s Revelation Pt II: The Fruit of Life is 14th. Rounding out the chart is Landon McNamara’s A Dollar Short & A Minute Late.
