Sasha Dias—

Journey , the second album from singer Sasha Dias, is scheduled for release in September on LTK20 Records. Her first, Break Free , came out in 2014.

Her manager Lindel Thompson said the set will have 14 songs including her covers of Olivia Newton John’s Borrowed Time and Will You Still Love Me Tomorroworiginally done by The Shirelles.

Ten of the songs are originals, which Thompson said shows growth.

“There’s nothing wrong with covers, but people want to hear original songs, stuff they never heard before,” she told Splash.

Dias, 26, is based in her hometown Fort Lauderdale. Borrowed Time did well on the South Florida reggae scene where she does most of her shows.

Journey hears Dias working with producer Willie Lindo, who has commandeered many hit songs from the region at his Heavy Beat studio in Miami, including Boris Gardiner’s I Wanna Wake Up With You.

Thompson, Lindo, Hopeton Lindo, Sean Vernon, Shakira Stephenson and Fiona are some of the songwriters on Journey. Multi-instrumentalist Paul Gauntlett, veteran keyboardist Robbie Lyn, bassist Robbie Shakespeare, and guitarist Junior Jazz also worked on the project.

Break Free was released shortly after Dias graduated from college in Georgia. Since then she has done extensive studio sessions with Lindo and maintained a consistent live show presence.

That has helped make her a better artiste since Break Free, Thompson believes.

“There’s real improvement; she has a stronger voice and good stage presence. She has come into her own,” he said.
