Her American rival, Torie Bowie won the gold medal with a time of 10.85 seconds, with Marie Josee Ta Lou winning the silver medal in 10.86 and Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands winning the bronze in 10.96.

“In the first and second rounds I got the starts but I don’t know what happened. I’m going to have to look back, and watch but no excuses. It was a good race,” she said.

Thompson says she will now turn the focus to the 4X100m.

“I’m very disappointed but at the end of the day it’s not the end of the world,” she said.
