Veteran deejay Finnigan is back in the hunt with Kind of Love, a self-produced song released in February.
He said it is a teaser for bigger things to come.
“Mi have a nice lovers’ rock album coming with conscious music and I’m looking to drop it by Christmas. I am working with a company called Version City Records from New Jersey for the past five years,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Born Steve Earl Kelly, Finnigan is from Greenwich Farm, an area that has produced numerous artists including Johnny Clarke and Cornel Campbell.
The 54-year-old artist began recording over 35 years ago as Papa Finnigan with Junior Ranking. They released a number of songs including Youth Man Prophecy, Guiding Star, Step Inna Dance, What The Gal Dem Like and the album Two The Hard Way .
The latter was also the title of their lone album for Heartbeat Records in 1984. Two The Hard Way, their most popular song, was produced by Winston Riley.
Since going solo in 2010, Finnigan has dropped a number of singles, among them Bet You Didn’t Know, Friend and Bad Like Me for Version City.
He does not rule out a possibility a reunion with he and Junior Ranking, now known as I-Cient-Cy Mau.
“If the occasion arises and the offer is right, then anything is possible,” Finnigan said.
