Emerging singjay Rage is aiming to take her place among the dancehall elite with her single Fling It Up.
The single, which samples Lady Saw’s Hice It Up (Cloak and Dagger rhythm), was recorded for the US-based indie label Platinum Camp Records, and released August 19.
“The response has been incredible. I have been getting a lot of response on my social media accounts,” she said.
Born in St Thomas, Rage’s given name is Cerine Gordon. She is former student of St Thomas Technical High.
“I never really took singing serious until my brother passed away in the year of 2016. He came to me in a dream and said to me: ‘Sister a sing yuh fi sing, enuh. You’re going to be big and have nuff hits. When you get your first stage show come and paint my grave.’ It was then I realized how that I had a real talent and took music seriously,” she said.
On entering the industry, she linked up with producer Cornelius Daley, who produced a song called Hot Type.
“After that, I met DJ Sunshine who taught me a whole lot about the industry, built my confidence and prepared me for my next lap in music,” she said.
“There is a lot of negativity that’s gonna come along, but I am prepared to face the battles because nothing will hinder me from reaching my goals,” she added.
