People’s National Party (PNP) chairman Robert Pickersgill is leaving the post after 25 years.

He reportedly told the party’s executive last night that he would not be seeking re-election in October.

Last night the PNP said it was grateful to Pickersgill for 25 years of service, commitment and leadership.

PNP general secretary, Julian Robinson, says he expects at least two candidates to offer themselves for the position.

In July, Member of Parliament, Fitz Jackson, confirmed at a National Executive Meeting that he would be running for the post of chairman.

Former industry minister, Anthony Hylton, has also expressed an intention to run for the post.
