Entertainer Sizzla Kalonji is today bursting with joy after his latest album, ‘I’m Yours’, debuted on two Billboard charts.
I’m Yours entered both the Billboard Reggae chart and the Billboard Heatseeker’s chart at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. The accomplishment marks the first time in his career that one of the entertainer’s albums has charted that high on the prestigious US charts.
Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR following this latest accomplishment, the entertainer described the feat as a good sign for his career.
“This means a lot to my career as it heightens my spirit to even continue my work in such a competitive world of music,” he said. “I’m really happy about what’s going on because it’s pleasing my fans worldwide.”
PLEASED WITH SUCCESS
I’m Yours was released on August 11 by FX Music Group. Producer Jon FX was also pleased about the success of the album.
“It’s phenomenal to see what persistence and a formula can do,” he said. “I have done many songs with Sizzla, and this album is considered a summary of what Sizzla has done and where he has been.”
Having dropped several albums throughout his career, Sizzla understands the level of work that goes into producing a quality compilation and encourages fellow artistes to put in the work that is needed to get them the recognition they deserve.
“This (Billboard charting) shows that quality and standard of an album must be maintained to be accepted by one of the world’s greatest music platforms,” he said. “It strengthens me towards doing a greater work in the future and should encourage other artists to also put in the necessary work.”
The 11-track set features collaborations with Ghanaian recording artists Stonebwoy (winner of several awards including the BET Award for Best African Artist) and Mz Vee, another award winner.
Tracks on the album include Incomplete, Experience, Fair Chance, Model, and My Girl.
