PLIERS is gearing up for his the release of his new single In It To Win It, his first studio production in a year.

“It is a motivational song to uplift all listeners and encourage them to work hard and never give up on whatever they put their minds to. Never give in, they should be in it to win,” said Pliers, who is half of the duo Chaka Demus and Pliers.

The single, which has a “tropical house” sound, is scheduled to be officially released on September 22 and is co-produced by the singer and Stephen “Lenky” Marsden. It will be distributed by Zojak World Wide.

“The feedback on the streets and from the disc jockeys so far has been incredible. Song will be added to play lists all over the world because the song has a new international dancehall feel thanks to Lenky,” he said.

In It To Win It will be included on his yet-to-be-titled seven-song EP this December. Sly Dunbar and Stephen “Lenky” Marsden will be producers of that set.

Pliers (given name is Everton Bonner) started his career performing as Blues Melody. However, he assumed his current moniker due to a similarity in sound to Pinchers. He is brother of acts Richie Spice and Spanner Banner.

As a solo act he scored with Your Love Is Burning and Bam Bam. However, as part of Chaka Demus & Pliers, he had several international hits including She Don’t Let Nobody, Tease Me, and Murder She Wrote.

He believes the last is one of the “greatest dancehall singles of all time”.

“Right now, there are are several recent requested samples, including Tight Nookiby Jeremih and Steflon Don; Tune In by Massari, featuring Beenie Man and Afrojack; Maxi Dress by Not3s. Plus two international TV shows have requested the sample; those are Parodying, a Mexican reality TV show, and the hit talent show, X Factor UK. This proves that Murder She Wrote continues to have massive international appeal,” said Pliers.

The Sly and Robbie-produced single has also been sampled by American-Spanish rapper Pitbull, who collaborated with Cuban reggaeton singer Osmani Garcia for an effort called El Taxi.

The singer said he is fortunate to still be in demand. His upcoming engagements include I Love Reggae festival in Birmingham, England, on December 16, and the six-day Love and Harmony Caribbean Cruise from Florida to Grand Cayman and Montego Bay on March 24 to 29, 2018.
