Teddy Brown, a Dennis Brown-style singer, died August 26 in Lakewood, New Jersey. He was in his mid-50s.
His close friend, singer/music producer King Benj-I, told the Jamaica Observer that Brown died at home.
He said they had been working on some songs, and that Brown last recorded at his Tronic 1 Records studio just three days before his death.
“Him used to sing jus’ like D Brown, yuh haffi listen good fi know di difference,” said King Benj-i.
He added that Brown (real name Tedane Kerr) had three albums to his credit, Badman Wagon and Victim. The latter was produced by Now Generation bass player Val Douglas.
His third album, Crazy You, was produced by King Benj-I and released in 2016.
A thanksgiving service for Tedane “Teddy Brown” Kerr will be held September 9 in Tom’s River, New Jersey.
