Ever since news emerged earlier this year that Foxy Brown gave birth to a baby girl, speculation has been rife about who the father might be. When popular television host Wendy Williams first broke the news, she said the father was a ‘reggae star’, and immediately persons began pointing to Spragga Benz as the most likely daddy.
Although neither party has officially confirmed who the baby’s father is, several posts made by Foxy Brown in recent times have strengthened rumors that Spragga Benz is indeed the father. In a post made on her 39th birthday last week, Brown, for the first time since giving birth, introduced her daughter to the world via her official Instagram page.
“My gorgeous, greatest grey-eyed birthday gift! Glory to God. My greatest hit, obsessively in love,” she captioned the photo.
In the post before that one, Foxy Brown uploaded a video of Spragga Benz in an interview talking about her and how much he respects her character. She simply captioned that video ‘Daddy’, but it was enough to send tongues wagging again, as fans offered congratulatory messages to both on their new bundle of joy.
confirmed the paternity
While the bulk of speculation about Spragga Benz and Foxy Brown’s alleged child has come from the public, at least one dancehall artist has somewhat confirmed the paternity of the child.
In a birthday message sent to Foxy Brown via Instagram, dancehall artist Spice referred to Foxy Brown’s daughter as her ‘niece’ and the ‘world’s first hip-hop/dancehall baby’. Foxy Brown replied to Spice’s post, also referring to her daughter as Spice’s niece.
But when THE STAR contacted Spragga Benz to probe the issue further, he declined to comment.
Spragga Benz and Foxy Brown were in a relationship and were even engaged in the early 2000’s before calling it off. The two remained good friends over the years despite not being in an intimate relationship.
In 2015, Brown used her Instagram page to profess her love for Spragga Benz, dubbing him as the ‘only man who ever owned her heart’.
“16 years ago in Trinidad, God sent me the only man who ever owned my heart. Ladies, when you’re loved and respected by a king, no bwoy can compare. Thank you baby for loving me to my soul. #ForeverMyHEART,” the post read.
