The world’s oldest person, 117-year-old Violet Moss Brown, is dead. Her son, Barry Russell, said she died today.
Brown, who was born on March 10, 1900, became the world’s oldest woman in April following the death of Emma Morano, who was born on November 29, 1899 in the Piedmont region of Italy.
The last few days of Brown’s life have been eventful. She had been caught in the middle of a tug of war between members of her family as one group that claimed that she was not getting the best of care has snatched her from her Duanvale, Trelawny home and refuse to say where she is.
Brown died at the Fairview Medical Center in Montego Bay, St James at 2:30.
Russell, 85, said she didn’t look well on Saturday and was taken to a doctor who said she had irregular heartbeat and was dehydrated.
