LUKIE D is excited about his upcoming album which is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2018. The album, which is being produced by his Barblings label, will be his first collection of new music since 2006’s Deliver Me (Maximum Sound label).

“This will be my first album of new material in a very long time and I can’t wait to share it with the fans. There’s a lot in store and when it’s finished, everyone will be pleased,” Lukie D told Jamaica Observer following his show-stopping performance at the re-opening of the Hi-Lo Portmore Pines supermarket in St. Catherine recently.

According to the singer, the yet-to-be-titled album will comprise some 15 tracks and will feature production works from Truck Back Records and Young Blood Records.

Meant to Be, Granted and Change are among his latest songs.

Lukie D came to prominence in the mid-1990’s with songs including Center of Attraction, Back Up, Roll Out, Save the Best for Last, and Don’t Deny Me (featuring Stitchie).

He has been a member of the quartet LUST since 1997. The other members of the group are Thriller U, Singing Melody, and Tony Curtis.

Commenting on his performance at the re-opening of the Hi-Lo supermarket, Lukie D said: ‘I’ve done a few gigs for the Grace family before. When they reached out to me, it was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse.”

His performance at the function included songs such as Missing You Like Crazy and a cover of Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud. Covers of Just as I Am and You’re the Inspiration were also a part of his set.

Born Michael Kennedy, Lukie D is originally from the Cockburn Pen area of Kingston.
