Bob Marley is featured on Forbes Magazine’s list of top-earning dead celebrities. The late “King of Reggae” secured the number five spot after earning US $23 million.
The “Redemption Song” singer is boosted by sustainability-focused House of Marley audio products and the Marley Beverage Co.
“When we decided to start that movement, it was [to] add relevancy to who we are as a family,” his son, Rohan Marley told Forbes. “We started that to really hone in on our legacy and protect what our father has given us.”
Topping the list for the fifth straight year is the “King Of Pop” Michael Jackson.
Eight years after his death, Jackson is still rolling in big bucks, cashing in US $75 million. Forbes says MJ’s earnings are boosted by a new greatest hits album, a Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil show and a stake in the EMI music publishing catalog.
Golf legend Arnold Palmer is the second-highest earner. He brought in $40 million in part through sales of Arizona lemonade and ice tea beverage made in his name.
Palmer is followed by Charles Schulz. The creator of the “Peanuts” franchise made $38 million. While Elvis Presley comes in fourth with $35 million.
