Since the release of his last album, 2014’s Tru Colors, singer Wayne Marshall has been working at improving his artistry. Marshall, who recently teamed with deejay Bugle on the single Social Media, shared his thoughts with Jamaica Observer about moving to the next level musically.
“I truly believe that its time I take control of the next episode. When you have an instrument, you can fine-tune everything. I feel very good about the songs that I’ve been working on recently, and the level I’ve achieved. I’m focused on sharpening up my game,” said Marshall, who is currently on the Welcome to Jamrock Cruise.
Social Media is executive-produced by the Marley-owned Ghetto Youths International label. It addresses the advantages and disadvantages of social media.
“I had the melody and I was ‘vibing’ the tune on my guitar. I went to bed and dreamed about it, and in that dream I spoke to Bugle and I said ‘we need to do this song’. When I woke up I shared it with my wife Tami. I called Bugle and he said to link him. I went to his studio and we had a prayer and then went into the recording booth,” Marshall explained.
Marshall is preparing to drop a new album in 2018
Born Wayne Mitchell, he attended Wolmer’s Boys’ School. He made his recording debut in 1999 and scored a minor hit with Bling Bling for producer Lloyd “King Jammys” James. His subsequent hits include Overcome, Sufferer, and When the Smoke Clears (both featuring Bounty Killer), and New Millennium (done with Vybz Kartel).
