Moravian pastor, Rupert Clarke pleaded guilty to two counts of having sex with someone under the age of 16 years old yesterday when he appeared in the St Elizabeth Parish Court.
The pastor was taken into custody on December 28 last year by the St Elizabeth police after he was allegedly seen in a car in a compromising position with a 15-year-old girl along the Austin main road.
Clarke, 64, who had bail extended is to return to court on March 8, 2018 for sentencing.
Clarke had appeared in court for the hearing of an application by the prosecution to transfer the case from the St Elizabeth Circuit Court to the Home Circuit Court in Kingston.
Justice Martin Gayle reportedly granted the application. Clarke’s lawyer, Deborah Martin, then asked for her client to re-enter a plea. Clarke changed his plea from not guilty to guilty.
Clarke, 64-year-old , was the pastor of the Nazareth Moravian Church in Manchester.
After Clarke was initially taken into police custody, further investigations revealed he also had a sexual relationship with the child’s sister.
