Opposition Spokesman on National Security, Fitz Jackson, says the parliamentary Opposition is strongly against any attempt to remove Police Commissioner George Quallo.
Jackson says Quallo has demonstrated competence in the job and loyalty to the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
In an interview on Power Talk on Power 106 FM Monday afternoon, Jackson said the opposition has been concerned about attempts by the political directorate to intervene in the operations of the police force or to influence the police commissioner.
He cited repeated calls made in the public domain by national security minister, Robert Montague, for Quallo to promote members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
The opposition spokesman called for Jamaicans to speak against any attempts to exert political force on the police commissioner.
He argued that this is a dangerous path for the country as it will undermine Jamaica’s governance arrangements.
