Dr Donna McFarlane —

Curator of Liberty Hall, Dr Donna McFarlane died yesterday after ailing for some time.

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange said that with her passing, Jamaica is mourning the loss of another of its outstanding women.

Grange said McFarlane — who died yesterday after ailing for some time — leaves behind “an invaluable legacy” in the work she did as director/curator of Liberty Hall: The Legacy of Marcus Garvey, conceptualizing and developing the Marcus Mosiah Garvey Multimedia Museum, the only museum in the world dedicated to the national hero.

The minister said the nation is thankful that Dr McFarlane, who with the philosophies of Marcus Garvey as her guide, made Liberty Hall a community-based institution which has put a high premium on the practical needs of the people living close to the institution.
