Following news that Jamaican entertainers Shaggy and Popcaan would be appearing in upcoming movies, another local artiste will be heating up international screens soon.
Spice, considered the current queen of dancehall, will appear on the newest season of the US reality series Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta set to begin next month.
Spice is no stranger to the VH1 television series as she was a guest on the show last year when the cast visited Jamaica in 2017.
She has also recorded a song with one of her cast members, reality star Tommie Lee.
Spice adds to the list of cast members who are either Jamaican or of Jamaican descent, to have appeared on the popular series.
Model Gabrielle Davis was a cast member on the first season of Love and Hip Hop: Miami. Rapper Safaree, who is of Jamaican parentage, appeared on Love and Hip Hop: LA before leaving to join the New York cast of the franchise.
Media consultant and public relations specialist Tara Playfair-Scott, when speaking with THE STAR, congratulated the dancehall artiste for this accomplishment and encouraged her to continue her hard work.
“It’s great, really awesome that she is getting this opportunity. I hope Spice will represent Jamaica well … she does have the personality to pull it off,” she said.
Playfair-Scott said the addition of Spice is great for both the artiste and dancehall music.
“She has that torch now and she can run with it, she is in that position now. I hope from this point on, she can create a path for others,” she said.
Season seven of Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta will start on March 19.
After a stellar 2017, Spice has started the new year equally strong. Her dancehall-trap music single Duffel Bag, which was released last month, has nearly reached one million views on YouTube.
THE STAR tried to get a comment from Spice or a member of her team but was unsuccessful.
