A number of reggae and dancehall stars have already been confirmed for Reggae Sumfest 2018 .

They include: 2018 Grammy Award winner Damian “Junior Gong” Marley; Beres Hammond; Popcaan; Ding Dong; Aidonia; lover’s rock star Maxi Priest; and female dancehall act, Spice.

Downsound Entertainment CEO and owner of Reggae Sumfest, Josef Bogdanovich made the announcement recently as he provided a glimpse of some of his plans for the event which will be staged July 15-21 in Montego Bay.

The developments include a number of new partnerships with world renowned brands, such as international travel booking giant, Expedia. He explained that through the partnership, which has increased the global visibility of the Sumfest brand, the event has been listed on the site.

“This is an absolutely positive development, and works in with our own efforts to bring more visitors to Jamaica and offer them first class entertainment,” Bogdanovich told the Jamaica Observer.

He noted that the Expedia connection is very active in the US, Canadian and UK markets, and can be accessed at jamaica.expedia.com.

“This is entertainment tourism at its best,” Bogdanovich added.

Bogdanovich says that Sumfest will also celebrate the legacy of Irish and Chin’s World Clash.

“On the Thursday night of the event, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of this landmark event by hosting a night dubbed Reggae Sumfest in celebration of Irish and Chin’s World Clash, Bogdanovich pointed out.

Irish and Chin started the World Sound Clash in 1993 as World Promotion. The first clash was at Roller Express in London and Bodyguard sound system was the first world sound champion.

He noted that in terms of the event’s role in engendering social transformation, Reggae Sumfest is fully on board with the #IloveMobay campaign, a public awareness drive led by the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry to restore the city’s civic pride and strengthen its social and economic viability.

“Being a part of this campaign allows us to promote a more positive outlook of this amazing city and Jamaica as a whole. Mobay has been the home of Sumfest since its inception and so its only natural that we would want to be involved in a movement focused on highlighting the good that exists in this city, while bringing people together”. Bogdanovich stated.
