Harry Anderson, who starred on almost 200 episodes of “Night Court,” was reportedly found dead in his North Carolina home Monday morning.

He was 65.Anderson began his career with small roles on “Tales from the Darkside” and “The Dark Side” before breaking out on “Saturday Night Live” in the early 1980’s.

But the Rhode Island native’s best known role came as Judge Harry Stone on “Night Court,” a role that earned him three Emmy nominations over the show’s nine-season run from 1984 to 1992.

Anderson also had roles on “Cheers,” “The John Larroquette Show” and “30 Rock,” as well as 12 appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” to show off his magic skills.

He was a longtime fan of singer Mel Tormé, who appeared on “Night Court” with Anderson in six different episodes.

Asheville police responded to Anderson’s home before 8 a.m. Monday, according to the local CBS station. Police do not suspect foul play.

“I loved this guy even though I had never met him,” tweeted Chris Hardwick. “Loved his comedy, his appearances on ‘SNL’ (when they still had stand-ups), and ‘Night Court’ is one of my all-time favorite sitcoms. I hope he is in some magical afterlife doing card tricks with Mel Tormé.”
