American R&B singer Ne-Yo is adding a little reggae flavor to his upcoming set with the release of Push Back .

Push Back, produced by StarGate and featuring Bebe Rexhan and Stefflon, is from Good Man, slated for a June 8 release date.

He said his love for Jamaican music influenced the inclusion of Push Back on the set.

“I am a huge fan of reggae. I am a huge fan of dancehall and just the whole Caribbean vibe and feel. It’s always a good feeling. Always a good, warm feeling. And the music makes the ladies dance, and I love to watch women dance. Especially confident women. So that’s what this song is about. It’s about confident women who get up and know how to move and have a good time. I feel like this is one of those records that when you put it on your body just sort of naturally does what it is supposed to do. It’s not even like you gotta think real hard about it. Kind of a no-brainer, so to speak,” he told popular culture news website uproxx.com.

Ne-Yo is is no stranger to Jamaica. He has also performed for locals audiences at events including Reggae Sumfest and the biennial charity event Shaggy & Friends. He also collaborated with Shaggy on You Girl in 2013.

In fact, the rhythm of his hit 2008 single Miss Independent was sampled by Vybz Kartel and Spice on Rampin Shop.

The singer spoke a bit about the project.

“It’s a little heavy. But with this particular record, I wanted to make sure that people knew and understood that the whole album is not going to be super heavy. There are definitely some moments in there to have a good time and let your hair down and not so much concern yourself with the lesson being taught, but just enjoy yourself. And that’s what this record was,” he said.
