The police are keeping a close watch on Cockburn Gardens, St Andrew, following the murder of a strongman from the community yesterday afternoon.—

The man, who goes by the alias ‘Ditty’, was shot and killed at a house along Melrose Avenue at about 2:30 p.m.

When THE STAR visited the scene, a grey Honda Civic motor car, which investigators believe was driven to the location by the deceased, was parked at the entrance of the dwelling.

It is said that the police were called to his stronghold in Cockburn Gardens after residents reportedly heard gunfire.

Residents told THE STAR that they fear that there will be some sort of unrest because of multiple murders over the past four days.

On Saturday, two men were killed in the community.

“Right now, we nuh sure bout tomorrow. The amount a people weh dead since Saturday. Every day a death round here. The place stay a way, and look deh now, dem go kill di general.”

Both the St Andrew South and the St Andrew Central police are investigating the latest string of murders across the neighbouring divisions.
