AFTER a chaotic end to last year’s show, promoters of Best Of The Best vow there will be no recurrence at next month’s event, which is again being held at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami.

A late appearance by Dexta Daps ended just before the scheduled midnight cutoff time, which prevented headliner Mavado from performing.

This left hundreds of fans angry and disappointed.

Steven “Jabba” Beckford, co-promoter for Best Of The Best, said things will be different for the May 27 gig.

“We try not to have too many talents this year, giving the patrons enough time to enjoy each artiste as they give them hit after hit; we also have firmer stage production rules,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Mavado is again on the bill which is dominated by dancehall artistes such as Capleton, Aidonia, and Ding Dong, Richie Stephens, Romain Virgo, soca acts Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons, and Afro Beat star Stonebwoy from Ghana.

Best Of The Best was first held in 2007 and has become one of the more popular live events on the South Florida calendar, attracting thousands of fans from that region’s large Caribbean population.
