On Sunday, June 24, at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, New York, Romain Virgo’s dream will come through when he makes his long awaited Groovin’ In The Park debut.

“It has always been my dream to perform on such a big stage and I can’t wait to see you all”,  Virgo messaged his over 600,000 Facebook fans and two hundred thousand plus Instagram followers about his upcoming performance at Groovin’ In the Park.

The annual festival, dubbed New York’s premier reggae & R&B concert will be an important platform for the fast rising singer. The tri-state area is home to large numbers of Jamaicans and Caribbean nationals. Last year’s festival attracted over 20 thousand patrons and with organizers reporting brisk ticket sales, this year’s concert is expected to be the biggest in the event’s seven year history.

Virgo has consistently scaled reggae/dancehall charts with hit singles ‘Soul Provider,’ ‘Stay with Me,’ ‘I Am Rich in Love,’ ‘Who Feels It Knows It,’ ‘I Know Better,’ ‘Mi Caan Sleep,’ ‘Another Day, Another Dollar’ and ‘Leave People Business,’ recorded with Chris Martin. In 2011 he made history as the first Jamaican artist to perform at the Academy of Country Music Awards, in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2012 he was named ‘Artist of the Year’ by Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) at their awards function in Kingston.

Last month, his new 16-track ‘LoveSick’ disc, earned the singer his first #1 position on Billboard’s reggae charts. He was also named ‘Brand Ambassador’ for Team Jamaica Bickle at the annual Penn Relay Carnival in Philadelphia, the first artist to be so honored in the organization’s 25 years history.

Other headline performers booked for Groovin In The Park 2018 include Busy Signal, Capleton and Grammy award-winning R&B hit machine Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds.
