Mr. Vegas—

The stage is set for an exciting showdown between entertainer Mr Vegas and Pastor Gino Jennings at the First Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ mid-year convocation on Sunday at the YMCA of Kingston on Hope Road.

Although eager to face off with Jennings, Mr Vegas expressed concern that queries that he made via email did not get a response.

But when THE STAR contacted Minister Gary Robinson of the First Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, he indicated that the planned discussion was very much still on, but said he had not seen the email that Mr Vegas sent.

He said that Pastor Gino Jennings would be using the Bible to clarify statements that he made when he labelled fashion-forward women in the church as ‘hoes’.

“They (audience) should expect knowledge and truth from the statement that pastor made and a clearer understanding of why he said that from the scriptures. The whole thing is coming from the clip which went viral, where people are saying pastor is calling people whores. They don’t understand what he was talking about, so he is going to explain what he meant by all of it,” Robinson said.

Pastor Jennings was widely condemned for his utterances after the clip of the late December broadcast started to circulate on social media earlier this year.

Among those who criticized the pastor were The Reverend Dr Carla Dunbar, The Reverend Phyllis Smith-Seymour, and Mr Vegas.

Shortly after, the three were listed as persons who would be in discussion with Jennings about topics, including the dress code of church women. But when their images were displayed on a billboard advertising the event, they were soon covered up after they indicated that they were being falsely advertised as invited guests.

And after they called out the church group for unofficially naming them as persons that would clash with the pastor, Mr Vegas indicated that he was ready to be part of the discussion after receiving an official invite.
