Pastor Gino Jennings—-

After being forcibly removed by members of Pastor Gino Jennings’ church at the YMCA on Sunday, entertainer Mr Vegas said the program is brainwashing Jamaicans and should be banned from television.

He said what he witnessed on Sunday was a congregation of indoctrinated people.

“The question should be, is this the man we want preaching in our homes? This man should not be allowed to preach to our children. I saw an 11-year-old child agree that the (former) Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller is a whore because she wears make-up because his parents beside him were saying yes.”

The entertainer added that his motive for engaging Jennings was to open the eyes of audience members to engage in some critical thinking instead of going solely off what is written in The Bible.

Addressing questions about him being ill-prepared for the matchup with Jennings, Vegas said he was never there to engage in ‘Bible talk’, but to present his point of view using arguments found outside of The Bible as well.

He said he wanted people to use their brains and realise “I had these brain cells before I could read The Bible, and I was born with intelligence”.

“The man clearly said to me, I cannot speak unless I’m speaking from The Bible, so why did God give me five senses?” Vegas questioned. “If I can’t think critical, why God give me billions of brain cells? I was trying to challenge these women to get them to do that but in their world … they are programmed.”

NO REGRETS

Vegas said that although the discussion/debate did not go as expected, he has no regrets as he believes some people are now seeing the church for what it is.

“The universe works in a mysterious way and the Creator of the universe has ways of manifesting things. These things (the behavior of Jennings’ people) if they were hidden, are now in the light,” he said. “Whether Vegas right or wrong, their behavior is not going to win any souls, I can guarantee that. They need to fix their church and their message.”

When The STAR spoke to a member of Jennings’ church in Jamaica, he scoffed at the ‘cult’ label attached to it.

“If you say something is a cult because it is different from the norm, then your definition would be flawed. Jamaica is a Christian country and Christian means ‘like Christ’ and the way to know what Christ is like and what Christ stands for is to follow ‘The Bible’. How can we be a cult for following what the Bible says?” he said. “We are not a cult, we are a Bible-believing church and that is what God is coming back for. We are not about popularity, we don’t care for popular views. What we care about is that we are preaching the exact things that Jesus, the prophets, and the apostles preached.”
