American gospel singer Cece Winans is the headliner for this year’s staging of Gosplash, which takes place on August 1 at Liguanea Club in New Kingston. It is promoted by Action Entertainment.
According to Markland Edwards of Action Entertainment, patrons have been requesting Winans and he had to give in to their demands.
“She is very popular with the show’s demographic and patrons kept asking us to bring her to Jamaica. Patrons are in for a really good show,” said Edwards. ”Cece Winans cuts across generations of music lovers from gospel to secular. She has been a staple in the music industry and she is still relevant to today’s crop of gospel music lovers.”
Winans (given name Priscilla Marie Winans Love) is a top-selling female gospel artiste. She is the recipient of 12 Grammy awards, numerous Dove and Stellar Awards. Her hits include Count on Me (featuring Whitney Houston) and It’s Ok (featuring her brother BeBe Winans).
Her most recent album Let Them Fall in Love peaked at number one on the Billboard Gospel album chart last year.
Gosplash has been held annually since 2013. Among the international acts who have graced its stage are Papa San, Tye Tribbett and Deitrick Haddon.
