Reggae star Etana has experienced a boost in the sales of her albums after a successful Reggae Forever summer tour, which saw her performing at venues across the US including Georgia, Texas, Arizona, Ohio, New York and North Carolina.

“We sold a lot of albums on the tour I Rise (2014), and Reggae Forever(2018). Many people were still asking for the Strong One, which was released in 2008, especially the new fans; that’s the one they want,” Etana said.

In March, Etana achieved her second number one on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart when Reggae Forever, her fifth studio effort, got to the pole position.

This achievement makes her the first female artiste from Jamaica to have back-to-back albums hit the top spot on the chart.

I Rise also hit number one in 2014. Reggae Forever is Etana’s first executively produced independent album and is distributed by Tad’s Record.

Etana said the tour generated much support from reggae lovers across the US.

“The tour did very well, and I performed in venues ranging from 500 to 2,000 people all over the US. The venues in Chicago (Illinois) and Salisbury (Massachusetts) were sold out,” she said.

She also performed at the Reggae Geel Festival in Belgium in August and received a music award from UNIA after a performance in Africa.

Etana has been at the forefront of a new wave of reggae artistes pushing the genre into the 21st century, a female in an industry dominated by talented males.

“I’m not sure what it means for other females because everyone has their own path to tread, but I can see my fan base growing on each tour, and that’s a great thing for future works and tours,” Etana said.
