Ras Kronik

Ras Kronik—

This is the 20th year since Ras Kronik launched his recording career. There have been quite a few bumps along the way but the Las Vegas-based singer believes he made significant headway in 2018.

First, he stepped out of his roots-reggae comfort zone and recorded ‘Get High’, an EDM song. Ras Kronik closes the year with ‘Rise my Emotion’, another computer-driven single he hopes can expand his base.

“This is an amazing year for Ras Kronik in terms of the different sounds and producers I have been working with, showing that there’s no limit with creativity as a creator,” he said.

Ras Kronik’s two albums, ‘The Real Thing Remix’ and ‘Wild N Free’, are largely roots-reggae collections that appeal to fans on the United States West Coast. For ‘Get High’, he worked with Steve “Mr Mig” Migliore, a high-profile producer whose credits include songs by Beyonce and Taylor Swift.

David Sivano, a top Swedish producer, called the shots on ‘Rise my Emotion’.

The Clarendon-born Ras Kronik, whose real name is Everton Edwards, has not turned his back on reggae. ‘Stick Around’, a lovers rock song he co-produced, was also released this year.

Ras Kronik has lived in Las Vegas for over 10 years, and is part of the gambling mecca’s close-knit reggae community. He performs mainly in clubs and festivals such as Reggae In The Desert.

Introducing his music to a wider audience, he admits, is frustrating at times.

“It is difficult from anywhere to get your music across but even so I am breaking new ground,” he said.
