Kingston College Chapel Choir
The renowned Kingston College Chapel Choir will ring in the Yuletide season with its annual Christmas concert at the University Chapel, Mona today starting at 5:00 pm.
The popular high school choir will perform Dr Andrew Marshall’s work, Magnificat — a musical stetting of Mary’s song, as well as other beloved Christmas music.
According to conductor of the choir, Audley Davidson, this year’s recital takes the 72-year-old choir out of its comfort zone.
“We are all very excited to present this year’s concert. We are looking forward to Dr Marshall’s work, as well as some of the other well known music for the season. The choir is being taken out of its box this year as choreography by Hugh Douse has been added to the presentation. In April of this year long-standing director of the choir Gordon Appleton died in England. The choir will pay tribute to Appleton with his arrangement of And She Rocked the Baby to Sleep. This memoriam will be complement by a solo performed by Kerry-Ann Henry, ballet mistress and principal dancer at with the National Dance Theatre Company.”
Davidson added that other participants including soprano Lori Burnett, and a chamber orchestra composed of a number of Jamaica’s best classical musicians.
“One of the features of our annual concert is audience participation. This year is no different as there will be the sing-a-long with the choir.
