Fans of dancehall artiste Buju Banton are eagerly anticipating the details of the deejay’s first concert since he was released from prison in December of last year.

Information regarding the event scheduled for Saturday, March 16 at the National Stadium in St Andrew will be released later today at a press conference set for the Spanish Court Hotel .

The organizers have been tight-lipped about the details of the show including the ticket prices. The tickets to the event will go on sale later today.

Buju Banton, who was slapped with a 10-year sentence on drug trafficking charges, was released on December 7, and has been keeping a very low profile since. He has reportedly been reuniting the members of his Til Shiloh Band and rehearsals are said to have begun in earnest.

The date of the highly anticipated show was announced just over a month ago, and Buju Banton also took to his social media pages giving notice of the upcoming show.

“It’s truly been a long walk to freedom…but I give thanks for the outpouring of love and support over the past nine years … I look forward to seeing and thanking you all on the Long Walk to Freedom tour, beginning March 2019,” he wrote.

Meanwhile the Grammy-winning artiste has launched a foundation to aid disadvantaged youth, from newborn to age 20.

The Buju Banton Foundation lists its main objective as the fostering of initiatives and programs that will provide skills training, talent development, educational empowerment, and other sustainable assistance to youth in Jamaica.

“Born in abject poverty I know what it is for a child to go without basic necessities. I also know what it is to be a youth with big dreams and lots of determination. Unfortunately, daunted and unable to achieve your destiny, due to lack of a helping hand. It is not an easy road, my children. However, Jah has blessed me. I have made it my mission through the Buju Banton Foundation, to help, by giving light to youth living in the darkness of poverty. Through provision of food, clothing, healthcare and education. Thus ensuring they too have equal opportunities to succeed,” the deejay said in a statement.
