Born to Jamaican parents in the United Kingdom, Valentine Saunders (Digital English) grew up surrounded by Reggae music in his home. He migrated to NY with 2 suitcases, one with clothes and the other with records in late April of 1977
After a few years, he began to work at Keith Records (Brooklyn, NY). He began to specialize in classic English Reggae which drew a surprisingly large audience to parties.
His first recording was influenced by King Jammys’ computerized rhythms. As a classically trained pianist it lured him to make his first recording “Stop your Fussing and Fighting” by Bugsy. Encouraged by the enthusiasm, he made his second recording “Every Man Do His Thing A Little Way Different” with Trevor Sparks which was a massive hit in the UK. This caught the attention of Phillip Smart and Sidney Mills.
In 1999, Digital ended the realm of “covers” and began his embankment on original riddims. From 1999 to present, Digital has been producing Roots music and some Lovers Rock – for his audience across the globe. His productions have prevailed throughout Europe.
