In a letter to Ephraim Martin, the Executive Producer of the 37th International Reggae and World Music Awards which will be held in Kingston, Jamaica on Mother’s Day weekend, Saturday, May 11th at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. Hon. Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport said “With the recent designation by UNESCO of Reggae as an “intangible cultural heritage” of Jamaica and Kingston as a “Creative City of Music,” having this event in Kingston is all the more important.”Ephraim Martin and Minister Olivia “Babsy” Grange finalizing partnership plans for IRAWMA

Hon. Edmond Bartlett, Min. of Tourism and Ephraim Martin- IRAWMA The Minister further stated “The IRAWMA show ideally satisfies both UNESCO designations, while also honoring the artistes of Reggae, benefiting the creative practitioners in the industry and spotlighting the birthplace of the music. These are some of our key messages on Reggae.” “In light of this, the Ministry will provide facilitation and financial support to the event. We will provide a detailed sponsorship contract.”

Ephraim Martin acknowledging the Minister has expressed how grateful he is for this very important endorsement, “It was just heartwarming to receive such a letter, it just reinforces in my mind how important what an event like this is to the Reggae community and I feel blessed and grateful that I’ve been able to continue this journey over these years.” 

This year’s 37th International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) and “TheReggae50”, celebrates fifty years of reggae from 1968/69 to present. Clyde McKenzie, Copeland Forbes, Mutabaruka, Ephraim Martin and Andrew Tosh
