ATF (After The Fact) is encouraged by the response to their latest single Yardie , which was released in January.
“This song came about when a long-time memory came to mind, and I added some humor to it,” Herbie Harris, keyboard player/vocalist, told the Jamaica Observer. “It’s doing very well in Florida where it is No.21 on the chart.” Yardie is also No.23 on the NY Foundation Radio Network Top 30 Music Chart.
Yardie is on the ATF Music Production imprint and is available digitally.
In addition to Harris, ATF comprises drummer Stephen Lee and bassist Lyndon “Ace” Webb. Harris and Lee were former members of 1980’s reggae group Kotch, known for hit songs including Head Over Heels, Jean and Cruising.
The trio has been working together since September 2015 at Friday night gigs at Andy Livingston’s Sweet Calabash Restaurant in Kingston.
“We still play good ’70’s and ’80’s reggae, and anybody who enjoys that kind of music, or who are not familiar with it but like creativity in their music, will enjoy our music,” said Harris, who has worked with some of the biggest local bands and musicians including Sly and Robbie, Third World and Maxi Priest.
“We want to attract everybody, young and old, and right now we know how to attract the people who loved our music back then, but we are learning how to reach out to the younger generation. We want them to come out and listen to our music because we really want to reach out to them, too,” said Lee.
Given Yardie’s warm reception, ATF has started working on their debut album.
