Singjay Kahsion maintains a busy recording output with Normal Day, which he believes can be a game-changer for his career. The song is produced by Flydie Wise Production, a company he signed to in 2018.

Normal Day looks at the average 24-hour cycle for a dancehall artist. For Kahsion, that includes “lighting up a spliff an’ popping a bottle a Hennessy.”

As for his steady flow of songs in the past 18 months, he said it is critical to stay active.

“The most important things about dancehall music is to stay current, work hard and try to let the people accept you for you,” he said, adding: “Being a dancehall artiste, I have to find some more topics, because music is a very jealous thing.”

Normal Day is the follow-up to Miss Rich, which did well for Kashion last year. In 2018, some of his other songs included Grim Grim and Yaaz, while 2017 saw the release of Hi Like Hi, Enemies and Speed Dial.

Last year, he linked with Flydie Wise Production, an independent company that launched in London five years ago. In 2016, they established a Jamaican base in rural St. Thomas parish and have worked with artists such as Jameik King and Chronic Law.

Kahshion, whose real name is Kemarly Thomas, believes a proper marketing campaign will get Normal Day over the top.

“The most important thing, it’s in the street and Flydie Wise Production is on the right move on every promotion, so it can reach a lot of places,” he said.
