Delroy Williams—

Party promoters are expected to pay an addition “special fee” of $20,000 to $30,000 to cover clean-up costs, according Mayor of Kingston and St Andrew Delroy Williams.

The new agreement came out of a meeting between Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) and event promoters in Kingston last Tuesday.

“We all agreed that the promoters will pay a special fee to cover clean up of the space immediately after an event. We have also agreed that we have to monitor the frequency of events in one particular location….we have to ensure that the frequency of the events does not pose an issue to residents in a particular location…we are also looking at adjusting decibel levels at various times,” Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams told the Jamaica Observer.

Williams also shared several details of the meeting, which he labelled as “productive”.

“The promoters are also exploring the idea of an association of promoters to make discussion between us and events promoters easier through an association which would represent them. They are embracing the idea…We also believe there should be a registry of promoters and also an Association of Promoters. This we will continue to explore,” said Williams.

Some of promoters attending last week’s meeting were Supreme Team Limited, organizers Sandz and Ova Suh; My Scheme; MoBay Marlin Tournament; Romeich Entertainment; and The Network.
