Though its official release date is May 3, Grass is Greener, a song by Asadenaki and Blvk H3ro, will be featured in documentary of the same name that airs April 20 on Netflix.

Today is celebrated internationally by marijuana advocates as 4/20.

Directed by hip hop stalwart Fab 5 Freddy, The Grass is Greener fields interviews with a number of marijuana advocates, such as Bunny Wailer, Asadenaki’s father, Damian “Junior Gong” Marley, Snoop Dogg and B-Real of rap group Cypress Hill.

Grass is Greener was co-written by Asadenaki and Blvk H3ro while Fab 5 Freddy and his crew interviewed Bunny Wailer at Pinnacle in St. Catherine parish, Jamaica in December, 2017.

Asadenaki co-produced the song with Shaka Girvan and Grei Snow. It will be distributed by DubShot Records, a New York company headed by music industry veterans Chris Schlarb and Murray Elias.

Schlarb says Grass is Greener will be serviced to radio in California and Colorado, states with liberal marijuana laws. There are also plans for coverage by High Times Magazine and Weedmats.com website.

Snoop Dogg

Fab 5 Freddy’s graffiti on walls throughout New York during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, are considered urban art and helped make him a hip hop legend. He went on to direct music videos by Snoop Dogg and Nas and has appeared in movies and television.

Grass is Greener marks the 60-year-old Freddy’s directorial debut. It looks at the link between marijuana and pop culture, and its cultural impact on African-American and Latin communities in the United States.

The film also gives insight into some of the legendary artists who used the weed, including conservative jazz legend Louis Armstrong and reggae king Bob Marley.
