THIRD WORLD ADDED TO IMPRESSIVE GROOVIN’ IN THE PARK LINEUP
Concert rated among top ten reggae festivals in the USA —
Veteran reggae band Third World is confirmed to perform at the 9th installment of Groovin In The Park which unfolds at Roy Wilkins Park on Sunday, June 30. The festival will also feature multi Grammy Award winner Michael Bolton, Beres Hammond, Sizzla and British radio host Sir David Rodigan
Third World, with lead singer AJ Brown is easily one of Jamaica’s most popular crossover acts. With 10 Grammy nominations and a catalogue of hit songs including “Now That We Found Love”, ”96 Degrees in the Shade” and “Try Jah Love”, the group has toured the world, delivering extraordinary performances for the past 45 years.
The addition of Third World come just as news broke last week that the annual summer concert was rated among the ‘Top 10 Reggae Festivals in the USA by Festicket.com, the world’s largest community website for music festivals with over 1,000 music events on their watch list.
“We have worked extremely hard over the years to get the festival where it is today,” an elated Christopher Roberts, founder and CEO of Groovin Inc said.
Among the other festivals rated in the top ten were the 35 year old Reggae on the River concert (California); 9 Mile Music Festival in Miami also known as The Marley Fest; Reggae in the Desert (Las Vegas); the two day Roots on 66 (California); Reggae Rise Up (Florida); Ithaca Reggae Festival (Ithaca, New York); One Love Cali Reggae Fest (California) and Best Of The Best Music Fest (Miami).
Roberts spoke of fan loyalty as an important indicator of the success of the festival.
“Music fans love Groovin. This is not even up for debate. I can say this with certainty based on phone calls, emails and feedback we receive daily on our social media platforms. They love the festival and the artists we present which is part of the reason we have such a high return rate of patrons each year. We have some exciting things planned for this year to satisfy the tastebuds of reggae and R&B music lovers”, Roberts continued.
Groovin In The Park, North America’s premier reggae and R&B festival provides an eclectic array of popular music catering to a very diverse audience. The festival typically attracts over 20,000 music lovers. Among the A-list entertainers who have performed at the festival in the past are Air Supply, Patti Labelle, TGT, Boys To Men, Gladys Knight, Peabo Bryson, Jimmy Cliff, Toots, Queen Ifrica, Coco Tea, Stitchie, Beres Hammond, Busy Signal, Steel Pulse and others.
