Songs like Roll Out and Unreal have earned BridgeZ a base among hardcore dancehall fans, but for her latest singles the singjay went for a change of pace, while sticking to her roots.

Upset and Faded are her new songs; Upset was released in April by Future Roots Productions. According to BridgeZ, the decision to fuse dancehall with pop and trap is a strategic move to diversify her following.

“I think it is very important to experiment with different sounds but always include the roots which is reggae/dancehall. I am purposefully mixing other genres with dancehall because I listen to other genres, as I see where it will gravitate to a wider audience,” she explained.

The songs also mark a new phase in terms of her management. BridgeZ’ career is now guided by South Florida-based Maurice Tucker who is looking to broaden her range by assigning her a band, a first since she started recording professionally 13 years ago.

Juggernaut is the name of the four-piece band she will be working with.

BridgeZ has been part of some well-known dancehall camps such as producer Rohan “Snowcone” Fuller and Bounty Killer’s Alliance. She credits that experience for putting the edge on her music and act.

“I have grown as an artist due to the places and experiences music has brought me through. I’ve gotten opportunities to tour different places in Europe, seeing even greater reception to my music which motivates to keep going,” she said.
