Old instruments, equipment, and a theater to showcase documentaries and short films, King Jammy is gearing for the launch of his museum.
The veteran music producer says the King Jammy’s Museum will open its doors on 38 St. Lucia Road in Kingston by the end of this year.
Jammy who has been working on the museum for three years tells Music News that the idea came from his wife.
In 1985, King Jammy and Wayne Smith created the Sleng Teng, the first fully computerized riddim that has influenced Jamaican music.
Jammy recorded and started the careers of many of dancehall and reggae’s biggest entertainers such as Shabba Ranks, Chaka Demus and Pliers, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Ninja Man, Flourgan, Courtney Melody, Beenie Man and Elephant Man.
