Poetry is growing internationally as well as in Jamaica. Against this positive backdrop, SenYAcum Edutainment in associating with JCDC is staging the 9th annual JPF 2019, with a difference, on Sunday August 11th at the apt, Louise Bennett Garden Theatre in Kingston Jamaica.
JPF 2019 – Celebrating Miss Lou 100 – The Canadian Infusion
Jamaica’s first Lady of  Poetry, Comedy and Theatre is, Miss Lou, the honorable Louise Bennett Coverley, affectionately called Miss Lou. She is also the celebrated mother of the Jamaican language and culture. She was born on September 7th, 1919 so we are celebrating 100 years of the great Miss Lou.

Talking Books at the Jamaica Poetry Festival

On Sunday, August 11, 2019, the Jamaica Poetry Festival will host the 1st Annual National “Talking Books at the Jamaica Poetry Festival” feature. It will take place at the Louise Bennett Garden Theatre in Kingston .


This is the first and only National “Taking Books” Feature and is in collaboration with IRIE FMs eclectic and dynamic Africa Forum Book Club which is run by IRIE FMs Program Director KaBu Ma’at Kheru“Talking Books at The Jamaica Poetry Festival” will be recorded for Radio broadcast on the flagship and leading Radio Program – The Africa Forum aired Sundays between 6 and 10 am on IRIE FM.
“Talking Books at the Jamaica Poetry Festival”  
brings together Authors from across the World, showcasing and celebrating the Nation’s leading  writers and helping to prepare the writers of tomorrow. This year’s  feature primarily features authors of anti-Black racism and its intersections. Panels are topically organized with two authors and a moderator, followed by book signings. There is also a course of workshops  for aspiring writers with leading book editors and literary agents. The annual Jamaica Poetry Festival Creative Writing Workshop runs from 10 am to 2 pm and shall be followed by the”Talking Books at the Jamaica Poetry Festival” workshop from 2 pm – 5 pm. Among the workshop facilitators are Welsh Canadian Poet  El Jones and Canadian Poet Cue Kirk.
