POPCAAN has denied claims by radio station BBC 1Xtra , that he will be unable to perform on an October 1 concert in the United Kingdom due to “travel issues”.
The deejay took to Instagram and blasted the event organizers for the statement.
“Mi just waan clear up summen, enuh,” Popcaan said on Monday.
“ BBC, me nuh want unno feel like unno can tarnish me name… Me want unuh tell the people dem say unuh cheap and unuh nuh wah pay fi weh unuh fi pay fah,” he continued.
The event, 1Xtra Live Concert, is set for Arena Birmingham in England, the third-largest indoor venue in the UK. Artistes billed for this show include Wizkid, Headie One, Stylo G, DaniLeigh, Miraa May, Aitch and French Montana.
In the video, Popcaan said he would never use his personal funds to be part of any event’s line-up.
“Unuh nuh try twist up mi name bout travel issues. Me nuh have no travel issue; me can go England any time me wah go England. Yuh hear dat, me just a make unuh know,” he continued.
Popcaan’s last major concert in the UK was at SSE Arena last year. Popularly called Wembley Arena, it is the second-largest indoor venue in London and eighth-largest in the country.
Popcaan (given name Andre Sutherland) is a protégé of imprisoned deejay Vybz Kartel.
He has had a following in the UK since 2007 when he and Kartel had the hit song Clarks.
He is currently signed to OVO, a company owned by Canadian star Drake.
