MPlans are in high gear for the staging of the 18th annual Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival presented in association with Publix, scheduled for November 10th at Miramar Regional Park. Under the theme “New Venue, New Vibe” organizers are promising a new experience for patrons at the festival’s new home in Miramar.
“We are always looking to improve on the patron experience and enhance the quality of the event,” stated Eddy Edwards, Chief Executive Officer of Jamaican Jerk Festival USA, Inc., organizers of the event. “The new venue offers an opportunity to present innovative and entertaining customer experiences, while maintaining popular Festival features.” Edwards stated.
Entertainment will include more audience interaction and participation as well as a variety of traditional and contemporary presentations. Headlining this year’s festival will be Reggae Ambassadors Third World, Chris Martin, Bugle, Honorebel along with Renaissance featuring Delano and Jazzy T. Up and coming female singer Jaz Elise, new gospel artist Soné, DJ Wizard and comedian Chris “Johnny” Daley are also scheduled to perform.
The festival will honor Jamaica’s cultural icon, Louise Bennett-Coverley, popularly known as “Miss Lou” with a poetry contest as well as several presentations in celebration of the anniversary of her 100th birthday, which was September 7th this year.
Seasoned Jerk Festival fans flock to the event every year to enjoy a wide variety of jerk delicacies, cheer on their favorite celebrities and chefs in the Publix Culinary Pavilion, as chefs create tasty recipes and compete for bragging rights. Others come to soak up the Western Union Cultural presentations and the sizzling entertainment while the young ones enjoy the activities in the Kidz Zone.
